How To Make Curly Korker Hair Bows
Every little girl needs at least one if not many hair bows. They are pretty and girlie! I know we have them around our house everywhere. And occasionally we make them at home!
Here is an easy tutorial on how to make korker hair bows that you’ll love making and your little girls will love having!
The tutorial is from eHow!
“Things You’ll Need:
Ribbon
wooden dowels
glue gun
hair elastic or metal double prong clips
2 or more straight pins
Collect ribbon in the color that you would like your bows to be. Use 3mm if you are making bows for younger girls and use 5mm if you are making bows for toddler or older girls.
Get wooden dowels in various diameters. Skinnier dowels will make skinnier curls and are usually used with 3mm ribbon. Thicker dowels will make thicker curls and are used with 5mm ribbon. Really you can use any combination you would like.
Adhere the ribbon to the dowel with a straight pin. Wrap the ribbon around the dowel and adhere the other end with a straight pin as well.
Wrap as many dowels with ribbon as you would like with different colors on each dowel. Place the dowels on a cookie sheet. Put the dowels in the oven at 200 degrees to warm for 20 minutes.
Remove the ribbon from the dowel and cut the ribbon into 3 1/2 to 4 inch strips.
If you are using elastic you will need them now. Take 3 pieces of ribbon and tie all of them around the elastic to make one knot. Once it is on the elastic take the glue gun and put a small dab of glue on the knot to make sure that it wont come undone.
If using the double prong clips just tie the three pieces together into one knot around nothing.
If you are making the bows hooked to the elastic, keep repeating step five until you have around 10 hooked onto your elastic, or however many you would like. When done putting the knots around the elastic, you can scoot the knots close together so that you can’t see the knots from the top view. You are finished!
If you are doing the kind with the clip, you will need to make about 10 groups of knots. Next grab your clip and glue a piece of ribbon on the clip covering the top.(see the picture) Then start glueing the knots onto the ribbon on top of the clip. When you get a full clip, you are finished. Make sure not to glue the clip shut while glueing the knots.”
